The 2006 Mitchell Bowl will be hosted Saturday, November
18 by the Ontario Football Regional Association Champion having
advanced from the 10 team Ontario league. The opposition will
be the Canada West Football Regional Association Champion
having advanced from the 7 team Canada West league. (See Participating
Teams section).
The first Mitchell Bowl was presented in 2002. Following
the 2001 season, the Atlantic Bowl was re-named Mitchell Bowl.
Mr. Douglas H. Mitchell is a distinguished Canadian and long
time supporter of Canadian Interuniversity Sport. A former
UBC Thunderbird football player and past Commissioner of the
CFL, Doug Mitchell is the founder of the CIS BLG Awards (formerly
the Howard Mackie Awards), presented annually to the CIS Male
and Female Athlete of the Year. Mr. Mitchell is currently
the Co-Chair of the National Executive Council and Regional
Managing Partner, Calgary with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP,
the law firm which sponsors the Howard Mackie Awards since
their inception in 1993.
