The Thunderbirds, 2-0-0 after the round-robin portion of the tournament, advance to the Championship semifinal where they will meet the No. 6 seed and host York Lions (1-1-0).

The Thunderbirds dominated the opening minutes firing several shots at Huskie goalkeeper Erin Dillon, named her team's Player of the game in the losing cause. Despite some brilliant saves by Dillon, UBC quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by second team All-Canadian Tiffany Michaluk at the six-minute mark.

The Thunderbirds continued to press and went ahead 2-0 in the 22nd minute on Jennifer Tait's third goal of the championship.

Saint Mary's adjusted well in the second frame, but were unable to sneak one past goal keeper Sarah Duggan, who recorded her second shutout of the tournament. Dowling (Kanata, Ont.) then secured the win with her goals.

UBC, 2-0-0 in Pool A play will face the No. 6 York Lions (1-1-0 in Pool B) in a semifinal Saturday at noon. No. 5 Saint Mary's (1-1-0) places second in Pool A and will meet the No. 2 Victoria Vikes in the other semifinal at 2:30 p.m.

In the sixth and final round-robin match of the Championship, the No. 2 Victoria Vikes scored three goals in a span of 11 minutes to beat the host York Lions 4-0.

The play was balanced for much of the first half with both teams trading scoring chances.

The Vikes took momentum into halftime however, scoring a pair of goals in less than three minutes just before heading to the locker room. Michelle Guiguet netted the first Victoria marker in the 27th minute, her second goal of the weekend, while Thea Culley made it 2-0 in the 30th minute.

Back from the break, Elise Roberts, also with her second marker of the Championship, quickly made it a three-goal game in the 38th minute.

Playing their second game of the day, the Lions appeared to fatigue after that third score.

Ebony Neil rounded out the scoring in the 57th minute. It was also Neil's second in two games.

Defending champion Victoria (2-0-0) will face No. 5 Saint Mary's (1-1-0) in the second of two semifinals Saturday at 2:30 p.m. York (1-1-0) will battle No. 1 UBC (2-0-0) in the first semifinal at noon.
