Canada closes most successful Summer Universiade since 1991
As Simon Fraser University's Melanie Matthews led Canada into the closing ceremonies as flag bearer at the 2007 Summer Universiade, the red and white celebrated its most successful games in 16 years. Canada won 16 medals in Bangkok, the most since 1991 in Buffalo when the team captured 40. -

For the first time since 1983, Canada's men's volleyball team has won silver at the Summer Universiade. After a 3-1 victory over Italy yesterday, Canada lost 3-1 (25-11, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21) to Turkey in the gold medal match on Saturday. The medal was the second of the day for Team Canada, which also won bronze in men's basketball to boost its team total at these games to 16. -
